These days I am going through book of Daniel in my personal Bible study. This book is very interesting and full of inspirations. I know that God loves our whole hearted commitment to Him and He doesn’t want us to be double minded. I found that Daniel’s three friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were fully committed to God. We know that these three Jewish youth were thrown into the furnace after they refused to bow down to a golden idol that king Nebucchadnezer had built. But what we can see here is – as these three boys were wholeheartedly committed to God they believed that if they are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God they serve is able to save them from king’s hand. We can find here how the story concluded. God rescued the boys from the fire and God was glorified.
Let us see the response of king below from Daniel 3:25-28.
He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”
So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”
Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
These three boys trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. When there is commitment, we will be rendered but when we bind to it, God is glorified and God will bless our lives to have lasting impact.
If you truly know the love and commitment of God for you, you will make a choice of commitment for Him.
